Ripley Real Estate Advisors, L.L.C. is
owned by Matt Ripley, who has a diverse background with
extensive experience in all aspects of real estate. Matt
is the principal producer for the company; however,
W. Lowell Milton
, MAI, SREA will occasionally perform appraisals by himself or
co-authored with Matt under the Ripley Real Estate Advisors
banner.
Originally from Oregon and obtaining a
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Oregon State University,
Matt was then recruited east as a graduate assistant at the
Pennsylvania State University where a Masters Degree in
Mechanical Engineering was obtained. Following graduation, he
was then recruited and hired by B&W in Lynchburg, Virginia
(subsequently BWNT, Framatome, and Areva), where he was involved
with the analysis and design for safety systems for nuclear
power plants.
A background with commercial real
estate began under W. Lowel Milton who is a local real estate
icon who has been
involved in appraisal, brokerage, and development for many years
throughout Virginia. Lowell provided a firm
grounding in the basics as well as the nuances of real estate.
In addition to hands on education, his
appraisal training was formalized through the Appraisal
Institute by taking all classes required for designations by the
Appraisal Institute taught by some of the more influential
appraisers throughout the country, with a firm grasp of
appraisal concepts demonstrated by passing all sections of the
Appraisal Institute's comprehensive exam. These classes have been
supplemented by a wide variety of additional educational
offerings on a significant array of real estate related issues.
After working with Milton Realty
Service Company and Milton-May Appraisal Company, Matt
established his own company, and now shares office space with Milton &
Neal (Lowell Milton & Joe Neal).
Matt has now been appraising
commercial real estate throughout Virginia for the past 10
years, has seen and appraised a wide range of property types and
encountered some very complex and interesting real estate
issues. On the basis of this education and experience, he is
qualified to perform appraisal services on nearly any property
type and for any purpose.
